Notice to Our Church Family & Friends
(Distributed via email March 13, 2020)
Every day we are being challenged to make difficult decisions that affect our health, our families and loved ones and just navigating our daily lives due to concerns about the Corona virus – COVID-19. The Pastor, our Council Officers and Council are deeply concerned about the safety and well-being of our entire congregation. The concerns around COVID-19 continue to rise and it is incumbent on all of us to “do the right thing”. We have been paying close attention to the science and the medical community. FL UCC is recommending that we follow the latest guidelines published by the CDC as well as common sense.
Living faithfully, fearlessly and prudently will always challenge us as people of Christ. At this time we understand that the prudent thing to do is to avoid crowded situations which bring us in close proximity to and with others. It is with everyone’s well-being in mind that we have come to some difficult decisions regarding worshiping together until the threat of infection abates. As this is a very fluid situation, changing daily, as of this mailing, we have made the following changes to our gathering together as a community of faith as well as other scheduled programming:
As of Sunday, March 15th, we will NOT gather together for worship or fellowship.
As of Tuesday, March 17th, the Thrift Store will be CLOSED to the public.
Saturday, March 21st we are postponing Alice Ott – Reader’s Theater.
Sunday , March 22nd we are postponing the FISH FRY.
Colors of Hunger will provide bagged meals for those who are in need – there will be no inside dining.
We will be spending the next week monitoring and assessing information as it becomes available. Additionally, we will be working on some technology opportunities to use interactive internet tools such as Zoom that would allow us to live stream an alternative worship experience.
We must continue to keep all of our church family in prayer and reach out to those who live alone, may be frightened by the unknown and just need a friendly voice to brighten their day.
